Our articles

Where our advice comes from

It comes from two places: the research, and eight years of coaching gamers.

We're Daniel, Mike and Sondre, the coaches at Gains For Gamers, and we stand behind every word we publish.

The research we use

When we explain how your body works, we go to the strongest evidence first.

1

Reviews of many studies

Systematic reviews and meta-analyses, which gather the studies on one question and weigh them together.

2

Trials and large studies

Randomised trials and large studies that follow people over time, published in journals where other scientists check the work first.

3

Official guidelines

Guidelines and official positions from major health bodies, like the World Health Organization and the American College of Sports Medicine.

4

Evidence-based textbooks

Textbooks built on the research, and when we use one, we say it's a textbook.

What we never use

Blogs

Supplement brands

Influencers

News stories about a study, instead of the study itself

We read the studies themselves, not just the headlines, and every article lists its sources at the bottom.

What's research and what's ours

Research tells us what works, and coaching tells us how to make it stick in real life, so our articles use both and always tell you which one you're reading.

1.2

1.6

2.2

The research

1.2 to 1.6 g/kg

Grams of protein per kilo of body weight a day for most adults (0.55 to 0.75 per pound), which is where the 2025 US Dietary Guidelines put it.

Our coaching

1.6 to 2.2 g/kg

Where we set clients who want to lose fat or build muscle (0.75 to 1 per pound).

Both numbers, and why we set clients higher, are in our article How much protein do you actually need?

What we'll never tell you

That your results are guaranteed

When you'll hit your goal

What condition you have, or how to treat it

Anything about medication or dosing

A number we made up

A qualification we don't have

We're coaches, not doctors or dietitians. What we publish is general information, not medical advice, so if you have a medical condition or an injury, or you take medication, talk to your doctor before you change how you train or eat.

Real clients, with their permission

Every client we name has said yes in writing

They choose their first name or their gamer tag

Their results and their words are real

If they ask, their story comes down

All our articles, in one place

Nutrition, training and mindset, for gamers who want to get in better shape.
